Police DSP injured in mistaken firing

A police officer was injured during a mistaken cross firing between the revenue patrol team of the Royal Nepal Army deployed in Bahadurgunj of Kapilbastu district and the civil police Friday, Nepal Samacharpatra reported.

According to the details received, both sides opened fire after they were not able to recognize each other. The police team was patrolling from the area police office in Krishnanagar. The cross firing started when the police patrol came face to face with revenue patrol team of the Royal Nepal Army.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Thapa was injured in the firing. Thapa has been brought to Kathmandu for treatment. The cross firing continued for ten minutes and both sides stopped firing after recognizing each other.

Similarly, a solider of the Royal Nepal Army who was guarding the telephone tower at Tulsipur of Dang was killed when the explosive that he was carrying suddenly went off. One other soldier was injured in the incident. According to the security sources the bomb exploded Friday afternoon when the soldiers were about to change their duties.
