Two opposition parties protesting proposed reduction on land ceilings obstructed the proceedings of the House of Representatives for the seventh consecutive day Wednesday forcing Speaker of the House of Representatives to adjourn the session until Thursday.

Legislators of the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party and the Nepal Sadbavana Party rushed to the Speaker’s chair and shouted slogans demanding a ceiling on property instead of land obstructing house proceedings as soon as the session began.

The Speaker adjourned the house proceedings after the opposition legislators refused to stop sloganeering and take their seats.

he Attorney General’s Office Wednesday furnished written arguments at the Supreme Court defending a government action to freeze sale and transfer of land nation-wide ahead of legislative measures to reduce land holdings.

A special five person bench of the apex court will Friday begin hearing arguments on the legality of the government action on complaints by five persons challenging the legality of the decision.
