The House of Representatives, Lower House of Parliament, passed the annual budget for the fiscal year 2001-02 of the government Tuesday.

Minister for Finance Dr Ram Sharan Mahat proposed that the annual budget be passed in the House of Representatives. The budget was approved by majority as all Nepali Congress lawmakers supported the proposal.

Opposition parties had registered different proposal seeking amendments in the budget. However, those proposals were rejected by the majority.

Finance Minister Dr Mahat had presented the budget in the joint session of parliament in July.
