KATHMANDU: The Bhrikuti Pulp and Paper Factory was shut down indefinitely Wednesday in Chitwan after workers presented the management a set of 20 demands including salary hike and increased allowances at par with government employees.
Employees had forwarded their demands one month ago. The factory produces 40 tons of newsprint a day and employs nearly 550 persons. The Chinese government built factory was privatized several years ago.
