One Maoist was killed and three persons were injured, including two civilians and one rebel, Wednesday at Gottitar in Lalitpur in a socket bomb explosion, the Defence Ministry said Friday.

A group of rebels forcibly entered the home of a villager and asked him to prepare evening meals for them. Then while in front of a bonfire, the bomb strapped to the loin of a rebel exploded killing him instantly and injuring three others, including two civilians. The rebels fled with the dead and injured.

Maoists Thursday shot dead ex-policeman Chandra Bahadur Shrestha at Bidur in Siraha Thursday, police said. Rebels Wednesday shot and injured Chetan Lal Bantawa at Chulachuli village in Ilam, police said.
