One Maoist killed

The army shot dead one Maoist in continuing operations in the rebel stronghold of Rolpa Tuesday where 76 insurgents were killed one day earlier, the Defence Ministry said Thursday.

Harsha Bahadur Pun was caught in a cross-fire between the soldiers and rebels and died Monday. Another civilian was injured in a cross-fire at Phalate in Dhankuta Tuesday.

The army has arrested and initiated action against two impostors posing as army officers extorting gold bullion and silver coins from people in Mahendranagar, the Ministry said.

A two-day seminar on “Law of Armed Conflict” was held at the Army Headquarters recently in which army officers and delegates of the International Red Cross Society participated.

Rebels attacked and damaged the historic Jyamrug Durbar in Dhading overnight police said.
