One person was killed and six others including two women were injured when a bus bound for Biratnagar from Katari of Udayapur was fired indiscriminately at 6:30 pm Wednesday evening while going past Barhamjiya, independent reports from the district said.

Kiran Chettri, from Teentoliya of Biratnagar was killed after being hit by a bullet. There are conflicting reports regarding those who were behind the firing. Eyewitnesses have been quoted by some vernacular dailies as saying that the firing came from the direction where the Chhinamasta Armed Police Post is located in Barhamjiya.

The Grokhapatra daily has quoted officials at the Sunsari district police office as saying that the incident took place when a group of armed terrorists opened fire on the passenger bus at Barhamjiya of Saptari district.
