Old Nepal hand to be nominated new U.S. envoy

President George W. Bush announced his intention this month to appoint an old Nepal hand as the next American Ambassador to Nepal. Michael E. Malinowski was Deputy Chief of Mission at the American embassy in Kathmandu from 1991 to 1993; he is currently Deputy of Mission at the

American embassy in the Philippines.

Malinowski is a career diplomat.
