Nabil Three star Club (NTSC) provided a football tutorial to the Bhutani national team by beating it 4-0 today to enter the semifinal of the 27th All India Governors’ Gold Cup football tournament being played at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok, Sikkim.

Anil Gurung of NTSC started the rout in the 23rd minutes capitalizing the cross off Bishan Gauchan. Gauchan took the ball from mid field and crossed the ball which was coolly netted by Anil Gurung.

Surendra Tamang doubled the tally in the 37th minute again off another cross by Bishan Gauchan. Tamang fired home a second goal through an excellent header. The Bhutani team almost pulled one goal back in injury time of the first half, but NTSC’s goal keeper made an excellent save. Klangyel Dorji’s superb long range shot was punched out beautifully by goal keeper Upendra Man Singh.

The second half saw the Nepalese team dominate the game and attack relentlessly. The pressure paid off when Bijaya Gurung netted a superb goal in the 63rd minute. Finally, substitute Santosh Shahukhala completed the lopsided victory by scoring the forth goal in the 86th minute.

“I am pleased with my team’s performance today,” NTSC President Lalit Krishna Shrestha said. Khadka Basnet, coach of the Bhutani national team praised the play of Bishan Gauchan, Anil Gurung, Bijaya Gurung and skipper-cum-goalie Upendra Man Singh. “If they play like this throughout the tournament, the trophy is theirs,” he added.

There were a lot of supporters for the Nepalese team, even though continuous rain and flowing fog made the weather adverse. People carrying Nepalese flags, doing the Mexican wave and clapping and cheering for NTSC was witnessed throughout the match.

NTSC will play against TATA Football Academy on 6th October 2005.
