NT resuming post-paid mobile telephone service soon

The government has instructed the Nepal Telecom (NT) to begin necessary homework to resume post-paid mobile telephone services in the country, officials said.

According to Madan Kaji Shakya, Director, new services directorate at the NT, the NT has started necessary homework to restart the mobile telephone services. “Before the resumption of the mobile telephone services, the users must re-register their personal details and submit a copy of their citizenship papers at the office of the service provider,” he told Nepalnews adding, “The re-registration process will begin from Monday.”

The mobile telephone services have been shut following February 1 political change in Nepal.

“Resumption of the service will begin only after the security forces carefully scrutinize the re-registration processes,” Director Shakya said. However, resumption of pre-paid mobile telephones are still uncertain with no decisions yet reached by the authorities, he added.
