KATHMANDU, Jan 3: Not a penny has been spent from the government coffers for the civic reception of Their Majesties the King and Queen held in Biratnagar today, Minister for Information and Communications and General Administration Ramesh Nath Pandey told The Rising Nepal.

“The expenditure for the civic reception was funded entirely through voluntary contributions of the local people,” said Pandey. “As far as road repairs are concerned, it’s only that regular works were carried out with a sense of urgency.”

Pandey also noted that the reception committee would make public the details of the expenses of the civic reception soon.
