Nine policemen killed in ambush

Nine policemen were killed Friday evening in an ambush laid by the Maoists at ward no: 3, Raghopur VDC in Siraha district, police said.

Those killed in the incident are police sub inspector Ram Bahadur KC (Dhanusha), Assistant police sub inspectors Krishna Prasad Neupane and Shivnath Jha (Sarlahi), police constable Karna Bahadur Kepcchaki (Udayapur), police Jawans Keshab Karki (Okhaldhunga), Jorman Rai (Panchthar), Devi Basnet (Jhapa), Pralahad Rajbanksi (Jhapa) and Rajendra Rai (Morang).

According to the district police office, the incident took place at six in the evening 18 kms to the north of the district headquarters near the Mahendra Highway when the policemen were patrolling the area in a jeep with plate number Baa 1 Jha 4718.

The bodies of the policemen were mangled and the vehicle has been damaged completely.

Ten security personnel were killed Thursday in Makwanpur in an ambush laid by the Maoists.
