Security personnel killed nine Maoists in five districts in the latest operations, the Defence Ministry said Thursday.

The rebels were killed in Nuwakot, Panchthar, Baitadi, Pyuthan and Salyan districts, the announcement said. Security forces  recovered pistols, guns, bullets, socket bombs, combat dresses, materials to prepare ambushes, explosives and logistics.

Meanwhile, family members of five school children killed in security operations in Nuwakot Wednesday filed a joint petition at district administration in Bidur seeking compensation, reports from the  town said.
