Nine killed in tanker accident

KATHMANDU: Nine persons died on the spot, including two children, and at least one person was injured when a diesel tanker overnight fell several meters into the Marshyangdi river at Tanahu 175 kms west of the capital, officials said Saturday.

The tanker hit a road pillar, exploded into flames, and plunged into the river. Among the dead were three men and three women.
The accident occurred near Abhukhairini on the way to Pokhara from Kathmandu.
