The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Wednesday asked the government to be mindful about the demands of those who have launched an indefinite hunger strike demanding whereabouts of their disappeared family members and relatives.
Saying that growing cases of disappearance and arbitrary arrests would depict an unpleasant picture of the country in the international community, the rights watchdog asked that the government seriously acted over the demands of the family members of the missing persons.
“The NHRC expresses serious concern about the indefinite hunger strikes launched by the family members and relatives of missing individuals and demands proper initiatives from the government,” a statement published today said.
The NHRC has also expressed concern over the deteriorating health condition of participants of the fast-unto-death.
Family members and the relatives of those who have gone missing after being arrested by security forces in different times had started an indefinite hunger strike at Ratna Park from Monday.
