A team of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is set to leave for the eastern district of Ilam on Monday to monitor the human rights situation there in the context of the unilateral ceasefire declared by the Maoists.

A statement issued by the commission Sunday said the team led by NHRC member Sudeep Pathak will also comprise the members of the Citizens’ Monitoring Committee including Sindhunath Pyakurel, Charan Prasain and president of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) Bishnu Nisthuri.

The commission also called on all sides to cooperate with the monitoring team.
