New SAARC secy general begins work

Chenkyab Dorji from Bhutan has joined as the new Secretary General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) on Tuesday, the SAARC secretariat said.
Dorji was appointed to the post by the 25th session of the Council of Ministers of SAARC held in July 2004 in Islamabad and will remain in the post for three years, the press statement issued by the SAARC secretariat said.

The new SAARC Secretary General has succeeded Q.A.M.A. Rahim from Bangladesh. Rahim left home on Monday after completing his term of office.
