Nepse registers nominal growth of 0.59 points

Following continuous fall during the last weeks, the index of Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) recovered slightly this week.

The Nepse index gained a marginal growth of 0.59 point over the week reaching its index at 372.21 points on Thursday, the last day of the trading under a regular lot from 371.62 points on Sunday.

According to Nepse, a total of 547,141 units of shares worth Rs 178,829,823 were traded through 1,269 transactions over the week.

A total of 539,907 units of shares worth Rs 81,033,934 were traded in the previous week through 1,313 transactions

The other group made an impressive growth of 28.59 points this week thanks to the sales of Chilime Hydropower Company’s shares. The index of the group opened at 363.49 points on Sunday and posted 392.08 points on the closing day.

The finance group also posted a growth of 3.93 points, reaching its index to 258.46 points from the opening of 254.53.

The commercial banks group continued to suffer with its index declining by 2.27 points reaching its index to 419.11 points down from 421.38 points.

The hotel and manufacturing groups’ indices dropped to 178.84 points and 297.46 points down from 179.23 points and 299.41 points respectively.

The indices of development banks and insurance groups dropped by 4.60 points and 0.18 points respectively.

Unlike previous weeks, the index of others group dominated the Nepse floor capturing 60.13 percent of the total share transaction.

The commercial banks group followed it at 30.30 percent, while the insurance group has 3.82 percent of the total transaction. The finance group was able to capture 2.33 percent of the total transactions and the development banks group has 0.58 percent. The manufacturing group had 0.23 percent, while the hotel group has a mere 0.02 percent share.
