December 25, 2001 KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will head Nepal’s delegation to the delayed 11th SAARC summit being held in the capital from January 4 to 6, a Foreign Ministry announcement said.
Other members of the delegation are: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Arjun Jung Bahadur Singh, Royal Nepalese Ambassador to India Dr. Bhek Bahadur Thapa, Royal Nepalese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Bal Bahadur Kunwar, National Planning Commission member Dr. Shanker Sharma, Chief Secretary Tirtha Man Sakya; Finance, Industry and Commerce and Supplies Secretaries and Acting Foreign Secretary are also members.
Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat will lead the delegation to the 22nd meeting of the SAARC Council of Ministers from January 2 to 3; Mahat is attending the Council meeting on behalf of PM Deuba who also holds the foreign portfolio; normally foreign ministers are Council members.
Acting Foreign Secretary Madhu Acharya will lead the standing committee delegation meeting from December 30 to January 1; Joint Secretary at the Foreign Ministry Gyan Chandra Acharya will lead the delegation of the programme committee meeting from December 28 to 29.
