Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has said that Nepal’s participation in the Internationale Tourismus-Borse (ITB), held in Berlin, Germany, from March 11 to 15, was successful.

Led by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Buddhi Raj Bajracharya, 11 private Nepali companies including hotels, airlines and other tourism related organisations, along with the Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Program and Austrian Airlines as a partner airline were in the Nepali delegation participating in the ITB fair.

According to a press statement by NTB, the Nepal Pavilion at the fair was decorated with woodcarvings reflecting the architecture of old Kathmandu, typical Nepali art and architecture with varied photographs of Nepalese people, culture and natural landscape.

Visitors of the Nepal Pavilion were given brochures, posters, post cards, CD Rom, and other tourism promotional materials along with information on the new Nepali tourism products and the concept of rural tourism.

‘Nepal’s participation at the fair was of great importance and fruitful, considering the importance to rekindle touch with the German market and provide assurance regarding concerns on Nepal as a safe and peaceful travel destination,” NTB said in the press statement.

The Nepalese delegation at ITB is optimistic of getting increased tourism business from Germany and other countries in the region due to continued tourism interactions held through ITB and similar other initiatives, the release added.

The fair featured more than 10,000 exhibitors from about 181 countries and territories across the world, displaying their latest tourism products.
