A controversial Hindu leader, Ashok Singhal, has said that Nepali people are suffering due to bad governance under the ‘multi party regime’ in the country.
Singhal, who is the chairman of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) was talking to reporters in Kathmandu Friday after taking part in Bibaha Panchami, a Hindu religious festival, in the holy city of Janakpur in southern Nepal Their Majesties King Gyanendra and Queen Komal also graced the festival.
Reports quoted Singhal as saying that terrorism entered into Nepal due to what he said misrule under the multi-party regime. He, however, claimed that terrorism would not last long. Saying that problems dogging the country must be addressed jointly by the King, political parties and Nepali people, Singhal said, “protection of Nepali people is also our concern.”
Singhal further said fresh and independent elections were not immediately possible in current situation in Nepal.
Talking to reporters at the residence of Nanda Kishore Ghiraiya, a member of the Raj Parishad, Singhal, however, clarified that he was more interested in the protection of religion and culture than in Nepali politics, according to reports.
