Nepal trounced Maldives 6-1 in the opening match of the U-14 Asian Youth Football Festival at the National Dashrath Stadium. Sishir Adhikari scored a hat trick for Nepal.

Bhutan beat Sri Lanka 4-1 and India downed Bangladesh 2-1 in the second and third matches. All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and the Asian Football Confederation are conducting the matches to popularize the game in the region.

Pakistan is not participating in the tournament.
