Nepal safe for tourists: David Breashears

David Breashears, co-director of widely acclaimed Everest IMAX film and leader of MacGillivray Freeman IMAX/IWERKS Expedition, said that he found people of many nationalities freely traveling far and wide in Nepal and that the security situation was normal in Nepal.

Addressing the gathering at a felicitation program by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) for his contribution on promotion of tourism in Nepal, he said, “I would bring my mom, sister and son to Nepal because I did not face any problem while in Nepal.”

Referring to the stringent travel advisory issued by USA on Nepal, he said, “I found the people of many nationalities freely traveling far and wide in Nepal, so I would tell the people of America that it is safe to travel anywhere in Nepal.”

A press statement issued by NTB said that NTB presented a plaque and a statue of Lord Buddha amidst a function on Wednesday. He was recently conferred with Suprabal Gorkha Daskhin Bahu(Third) by His Majesty’s Government.

At the same function, Tek Babadur Dangi, Chief Executive Officer of NTB, assured Breashears of all help for his any new venture that would promote Nepal.

David Breashears is a filmmaker, adventurer, author and mountaineer who has climbed Mt Everest five times.

The recipient of four national Emmy Awards for achievement in cinematography, he is one of the world’s most experienced adventure filmmakers. He is the author and co-author of three best-selling books: Everest: Mountain Without Mercy, Last Climb and High Exposure.
