Kathmandu, May 25: MPs at the House of Representatives at the begining of its meeting other day drew the attention of the government towards current developments.
At the very outset, Til Kumar Menynagwo of CPN-UML asked the government to give its attention to the hastles being faced by some 25 teachers because the district education office, Taplejung said they were not permanent employees and were not entiltled to pension although they had been working in the district with permanent staff status and privileges after being appointed in 2034 Bikram year.
Virodha Khatiwada of the same party demanded that the Hetauda Textile Mill which was providing employment to over 1,200 labourers and incurring liabilities of about Rs. 4,500,000 per month should either be privatised or re-opened. Another MP of the same party, Suresh Kumar Karki, drew the attention of HMG to the collection of around Rs. 2,500,000 by a group intimidating local people in the name of Maoists.
Netra Lal Shrestha of RPP said that people who have been displaced from Rukum, Rolpa, and Salyan because of the Maoists are again been chased away by the police.
Subhash Chandra Nemwang of CPN-UML objected to the accusation against leaders of the CPN-UML made in an article entitled “CPN UML slogans against corruption and the reality” published on may 19 by the National Daily Gorakhaparta.
Was it justifiable to publish such an article in newspapers run by the government with tax payers’ money, he asked and added that they are ready for direct talks with such media if they give the time. Hridayesh Tripathi of Nepal Sadbhawana Party said that since the government has permitted goods from India to come in only through 22 custom points this would reduce the revenue.
He also expressed the view that the in flow of necessary commodities would be hindered due to the restrictions impossed by the government against vehicles that did not meet the Euro 1 standard.
Dr. Vanshidhar Mishra of CPN-UML said that the goverment should take action agaist those said to be associated with the Nepali Congress Party for involvement in the murder of a 7-year old girl of Laxmipur VDC, Bara on April 22.
Krishna Lal Maharjan of the same party drew the attention of the Ministry of Population and Environment towards the protection of Lalitpur which is included in the World Heritage List from the foul ordour of gas tempos.
Another MP of the CPN-UML, Kamal Prakash Sunuwar, said that local people of Ramechhap district are facing difficulties due to the translocation of the police post and the bank to the district headquarters.
He also referred losses caused by hailstorm, floods and landslide in the district. Sheradhan Rai of the same party expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of initiative towards remove houses constructed by landless squatters at historic Hatuwagadhi.
