Kathmandu, June 21: The monsoon rains started this year June 3 almost one week ahead of normal, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said. Approximately 265 mm of rain has fallen with the start of the monsoon, the Department said.

Seventy-five of the nation’s  annual precipitation is recorded during four months from June to September. Farmers are busy planting paddy with the onset of the monsoon.
