Maoists Sunday freed Dr Chet Bahaudr Kunwar, former secretary of the Royal Palace and then personal secretary of late King Birendra, who was abducted from Rupandehi on December 3.

The rebels released Kunwar from an unidentified place in Nawalparasi district at around 1:00 p.m. at the presence of human rights activists and local journalists, reports said.

Armed Maoists had abducted him from Patthar Danda of Tikuligadh VDC when he was returning to his home after participating at the second World Buddhist Summit held in Lumbini.

Kunwar is also a noted literary figure. nepalnews.com mbk Dec 12 04
