Maoists, Police clash in Gorkha

Kathmandu, June 24: There were no casualties Saturday in the first  encounter between Maoists and police at a village in Gorkha district after  army deployment in the district earlier this year.

Police recovered arms,  ammunition and documents from the rebels at Kharibot  village after the
shoot-out., police said. Government has deployed the army is seven of  75 districts after the escalation of the Maoist insurgency.

Maoists also  torched a police post Haldibai in Jhapa district  the same day, police said. There were no casualties on  both sides.
