Maoists killed five alleged members of an anti-Maoist retaliation group at Kudarmatewa village in Kapilvastu district on Sunday night, security sources today said.

A group of heavily armed militants had attacked the villagers who they claimed were involved in recent spate of anti-Maoist violence. The villagers were killed on the spot.

The incident comes within days after a similar Maoist attack on the villagers in which seven locals were killed. Before that, the locals of Ganeshpur and nearby villages in Kapilvastu had killed over 20 Maoists in separate clashes.
