A man-eating tigress was shot dead Friday hours after claiming its seventh victim Friday at Daunne forest in Nawalparasi district,  wildlife officials said.

The latest victim was a woman who was foraging for firewood and cattle fodder near the inaccessible forest. Hunters decided to shoot dead the tiger instead of darting it for capture.

The tiger escaped from the Royal Chitwan National Park to Nawalparasi last month terrorizing three villages in nearly one month. The tiger eluded the hunters for 10 days.
