The leaders of main political parties requested King to trim down the authority and to work with them to sort out the political crisis the country is going through, the Rajdhani daily report stated.

“The Kings audiences to different political leaders is not sufficient to solve the turmoil”, Rajdhani quoted Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel as saying in a function organized by Intellectual Debate Fourm on Thursday.

He further said, “The King should make a clear statement expressing his will to restore people’s right and renounce active politics.”

However, CPN-UML leader Bam Dev Gautam said, “ If the 7 points agenda of the King can solve the turmoil it is not necessary to go against it”, adding, “We must have dialogue with the King again and again.”

Gautam also said, “If the movement of the five political parties is not to root out the King but to sort out the present turmoil, then all of us should accept the presence of the King, Maoist and the political parties.”

Gautam also opined that his party is for a 50% amendment in the constitution and that the party has already started working on it.

Speaking at the function, President of Nepal Bar Association, Sindhu Nath Pyakural said, “Placing conditions to the political leaders is against the norms of the constitutional monarchy.”
