Kathmandu, June 4): The members of the parliament, taking time from the Speaker at the meeting of the House of Representatives today, drew the attention of the House towards various contemporary issues including law and order in the country.
Subas Chandra Nemwang of the CPN-UML wondered how far it was proper to cancel the registration of the Safa tempos though the government had expressed commitment in pollution prevention and environment programmes and sought clarification on matters such as resumption of the flight of Indian Airlines, Bhutanese refugees, and the news item concerning corruption published in the Gorakhapatra daily.
Romi Gauchan Thakali of the Nepali Congress demanded that air services to Jomsom of Mustang district be operated seven days a week.
Harkaman Tamang of the CPN-UML said that a team of 40 police personnel led by superintendent of police went to the house of teacher Gopal Tamang where some persons taking part in the ilaka review programme of the CPN-UML had been staying and resorted to vandalism and looted Rs. 100,000 in cash and 30 tolas of gold. He demanded immediate action against the culprits by the Home Ministry.
Mahendra Bahadur Pandey of the CPN-UML alleged that police have the vice-president of Nuwakot district committee of Nepal Teachers Organisation, chairman of the district committee of Nepal Intellectuals Council for distributing pamphlets concerning languages and they were charged of being Maoists and called the attention of the government in this regard.
Govinda Bahadur Shah of the Nepali Congress said that hailstones had damaged the standing crops in the far-western and mid-western development regions and people have been made to suffer on account of the Maoists’ forcing them to undertake collective farming and the police checking it.
Suresh Kumar Karki of the CPN-UML informed that 27 persons had already died due to kalaazar and gastro-enteritis in Udayapur district and demanded that necessary drugs and additional medical team be sent to the district.
Homnath Dahal of the Nepali Congress said that the reaction of HMG on the coup in Fiji had not yet been received and sought information from the government on the Bhutanese issues and the visit of the Minister for Foreign Affairs to India.

Pradip Kumar Gyawali of the CPN-UML said that though tens of millions of rupees had been sanctioned for the political sufferers relief fund, the political sufferers have fallen victims of the corruption in the fund.
Prem Bahadur Singh of the same party said that the families of police who had been chased away by the Maoists at the various districts of Kalikot district had been stranded at the district headquarters and 241 persons had entered the capital after suffering from the encounter between the Maoists and the police.
Ganga Prasad Nepal of the CPN-UML said that though snake menace had increased in Sindhuli and Udayapur districts, there was no programme for providing relief to the people.
Ratna Prasad Sharma Neupane, also of the CPN-UML, said that there was starvation in Bara district and asked why the huts of the landless squatters in the district were demolished by bulldozers.
Birodh Khatiwada of the same party said that the body of a boy who died after falling down from a bridge at Hetauda was kept at the table of the deputy mayor for three days and as a person belonging to the CPN-UML had reached there, the NC government had politicised the incident.
Yadav Bahadur Rayamajhi of the CPN-UML said that the suspended surveying of land in Palpa district be completed and sought reply for shifting of the district health post to the headquarters.
Bharat Kumar Shaha of the Nepali Congress regretted that the budget had not been allocated for the construction of an international airport in Lumbini and said that the people of Rupandehi district were hit hard as a result of the closure of the some sub-branches of the Nepal Bank Limited in the district.
Netra Lal Shrestha of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party said that the people of Dang district constituency Nos 2 and 4 were facing difficulty because the voters identity cards for three to four villages were distributed from one place and demanded that it be distributed in every villages.
Sohan Prasad Chaudhari of the CPN-UML alleged that timber was being smuggled through the border areas of Nepal and district administrations had been politicised.
Narayan Man Bijukchhe of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party alleged that Britain was making an attempt to colonise Sierre Leone under the pretext of the peacekeepers being held hostages there.
Ram Chandra Tiwari of the Nepali Congress drew the attention of the government towards the pollution caused by effluent of the Everest Paper Mill being released in the Bidi river of Dhanusha disrict.
Gokarna Raj Bista of the CPN-UML said that the allegations in the periodicals that the parliamentary deliberations were becoming ineffective should be investigated and the government should pay attention to the matters raised by the MPs in the Parliament.
