King Gyanendra visited Myanglung, the district headquarters of Terathum Saturday in the second leg of his visit to the eastern region and spent time with the fire victims of December 7 listening to their woes and giving necessary instructions for their rehabilitation.
Myanglung market caught fire a month back. The fire destroyed 80 houses and property worth two billion rupees was reduced to cinder. The fire affected around 300 hundred families.
According to reports dispatched from the district, the King listened to the fire victims very keenly. He gave instructions to the Prime Minister to arrange for soft loans to the fire victims through the Agriculture Development Bank for the reconstruction of their houses.
The King also asked the Prime Minister to step up the relief works, provide jobs to the youths and make the necessary arrangements to ensure that no victim goes unattended.
King Gyanendra added one million rupees to the relief assistance of the same amount presented to the fire victims on behalf of the Nepal Chambers of Commerce and Industries. The King is scheduled to visit Rajbiraj, the headquarters of Saptari district Sunday.
The King is looking forward to paying homage at Sakhara Bhagwati temple in Chinnamasta while visiting Rajbiraj.
