General Secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist-Leninist) Madhav Kumar Nepal Friday said the sequel of events following the October 4 Royal Proclamation have indicated that the King is wanting to have an active role in politics, published reports said.
Nepal challenged the King to quit his position and try his strength in the elections. He said as constitutional monarchy and active politics are two different things, the King must chose one from the two.
Nepal was addressing a mass meeting organized by the (CPN) UML Gandaki zone Coordination Committee in Pokhara Friday. He said his party was in support of constitutional monarchy and strictly
wanted the King to remain a constitutional monarch.
Nepal warned the King that his party would spearhead a movement against the Royal Proclamation if he did not initiate steps to give back the democratic rights of the people.
