Kathmandu, June 27: King Gyanendra Wednesday nominated three persons, including a woman, to three vacant seats in the National Assembly, the upper chamber of parliament, a royal palace announcement said.
Dipta Prakash Shah, Dr. Roop Joyti, a prominent businessman and Yankila Sherpa, a woman trekking entrepreneur, were nominated. The King did not nominate anybody to the fourth vacant post.
Elections are being held since Wednesday morning for 15 elders elected from the 205 member House of Representatives and five development regions.
