Journalists of Myagdhi and Baglung districts have defied the order of the District Administration Office issued as per the direction of the Dhaulagiri Zonal Administrator to be present themselves at the Zonal Administration Office on Thursday.
Dhaulagiri chapter of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists said the journalists defied the summons because it was not the zonal administrator’s responsibility to question the journalists about news transmission and publication, according to reports.
In a letter issued by CDO, journalists of Baglung and Myagdi district had been directed to be present at the Zonal Administration Office (ZAO) on Thursday, at 11 a.m.
Meanwhile, all journalists of Parbat district, excluding those working with state-run media, have decided to defy a similar order issued by CDO to present them before the ZAO on December 18, reports said.
Acting upon the directive of zonal administrator Ramji Bista, the local administration on December 9 had ordered journalists based in Myagdhi, Baglung and Parbat districts in western region to be present before the ZAO along with their license. The regional administrator also asked Chief District Officers (CDO) of respective districts to be present along with journalists.
