Chief of the revenue department under the Ministry of Finance, joint secretary Shree Ram Panta who had absconded after the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority raided the houses of 22 officials of the department surrendered before CIAA Friday.

Panta surrendered after three months. He was taken into custody after preliminary interrogation and will be placed before the Special court Monday to extend the period of his remand.

Panta told the CIAA officials that he had not been able to present himself before the authorities as he was sick and was undergoing treatment in New Delhi.
