KATHMANDU: Japan Thursday gave Nepal a Rs.1515.89 million grant for three programmes, the Finance Ministry said Thursday. Japan set aside Rs.611.52 million to augment the capital’s water supply by stopping leakage and increasing capacity. Rs.492.77 million as debt relief was earmarked to procure petroleum products and transport equipment.
An additional Rs.411.60 million will be spent to import fertilizers to increase agriculture production. Ambassador Zenji Kaminaga and Finance Secretary Dr. Bimal Koirala signed and exchanged three different notes at the Finance Ministry Thursday. Japan is Nepal’s biggest aid donor.
