KATHMANDU: The newly appointed Indian Foreign Minister K Natwar Singh arrived in Kathmandu Friday afternoon for a two-day goodwill visit. Chief Secretary Bimal Prasad Koirala received Singh at Tribhuvan International Airport.
Speaking with the press at TIA, the Indian Foreign Minister said that his visit would strengthen the already wide-ranging ties between the two countries. Saying it was his first visit as the Indian FM to a foreign country, Singh added, “ It reflects the importance we attach to Nepal.”
Singh, a career diplomat, is scheduled to meet King Gyanendra, Prime Minister Deuba and leaders of the political parties.
According to reports, the two neighbors will discus all issues affecting bilateral relations. However, the talks will center mainly on the current situation and stability.
He is returning to India on Saturday afternoon.
