Indian envoy Mukherjee calls on former PM Thapa

Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, called on former prime minister and chairman of Rastriya Janashakti Party Surya Bahadur Thapa at the latter’s residence in Kathmandu on Monday.

During the nearly hour long meeting, Mukherjee and Thapa discussed the latest political situation in Nepal including withdrawal of the unilateral ceasefire by the CPN (M), ongoing pro-democracy movement by seven political parties and municipal pools announced by the government, according to sources.

During the meeting, the envoy expressed concerns about latest political development in Nepal and stressed on the need for reconciliation between the king and the political parties, according to sources.

Earlier, Ambassador Mukherjee had met Nepali Congress president GP Koirala and CPN-UML gen secy Madhav Kumar Nepal separately and discussed the latest political development in Nepal.
