The government of India has sanctioned an assistance of Rs. 23.95 million for rural electrification of four VDCs in the southern terai district of Sarlahi.
Deputy chief of mission at the Indian embassy in Kathmandu, V. P. Haran, laid foundation stone for the rural electrification of Gaurishankar, Basantpur, Haripurwa and Sangrampur VDCs at Sangrampur on Monday amidst a public function.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on July 19, 2004 between the Embassy of India and District Development Committee, Sarlahi to this effect. The project would be executed by the DDC Sarlahi in accordance with prescribed procedures.
A Monitoring Committee has been constituted for the project consisting of members from the four VDCs to oversee the project implementation to ensure proper utilisation of the grant assistance.
