India to set up Consulate office in Birgunj

India is to establish its new Consulate office in Birgunj by next week, reports said Monday quoting Indian Embassy officials.

The new office will function as an associate agency of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu. Published reports quoting Gururaj Rao, first Secretary of the Indian Embassy, said, the new office attains all rights as the Kathmandu-based Embassy has.

The new office will facilitate Terai region of Nepal in different ways. Moreover, it will be easier to carry out businesses between the two countries.

“India will build around 1500 Kilometers road in the Terai area of Nepal within next five years,” Indian Ambassador to Nepal Shyam Sharan said. According to Sharan, the project will include 22 link roads and 14 bridges. nepalnews.com pd Jan 27 04
