India to provide Rs 50m for flood control

The five-day meeting between of Nepal-India Sub-Committee on dam construction near the border has concluded with India agreeing to provide Rs 50 million for flood control measures in the Bagmati and Lalbakaiya rivers.

During the meeting, an assessment of projects carried out so far was made and the committee agreed to prepare a detailed project report of the Khando river once a survey is completed. The report will be presented during the next meeting of the committee.

The members of the committee also made an onsite inspection of the impact in Rautahat and Sarlahi districts caused by the recently constructed embankments in the Bagmati and Lalbakaiya rivers.
