The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Wednesday presented a secret report to the Prime Minister’s Office and the Home Ministry on the conditions of prisoners held in prisons and police stations since an emergency was slapped on November 26 last year, an announcement said.
Representatives of the ICRC interviewed 560 prisoners.
The ICRC started working in Nepal since 1998. The 18 page report says there are 1,434 prisoners in 50 prisons and 30 police stations. The report mentions abuses against prisoners and shortcomings in the prison administration.
