Hundreds of Nepalese on their way to war-torn Iraq in search of employment have been stranded in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi as their hopes of entering Iraq is gradually dying with the manpower companies showing them a cold shoulder, reports said.
Some Nepalese have managed to return home at the mercy of some illegal agents usually without money and passports, but most of them are waiting desperately to travel to other Gulf countries.
They lamented that they had been cheated by the manpower companies and were left to their destiny. They complained that the manpower companies took them there but had not kept their promises of sending them to Iraq and other Gulf countries, reports The Rising Nepal.
“We have abandoned our plans to go to Iraq after the problems that surfaced there including the abduction of foreign workers,” the paper quoted them as saying.
The Royal Nepalese Embassy too has not been able to be of much help, as it has only three staff members and the workload is too much with many Nepalese visiting the Embassy for help.
