The Home Ministry Monday said it is going to organize press conference on a daily basis.
Speaking at a press conference organized Monday in the capital, spokesperson for the Home Ministry Gopendra Bahadur Pandey confirmed this.
170 Maoist militants, Pandey informed, have surrendered in front of the security forces soon after the government announced amnesty to the defectors, guaranteeing their security and resettlement.
Commenting on the security situation particularly in the context of student protests, the Home Secretary said there were indications that the Maoists might have infiltrated to create more tension.
He informed that the government is planning to settle the Maoist defectors at Dhakaltar, Tanahun. He made this known that the rebels willing to give in could contact the district administrations or come to the camps of security bodies. Mobile administrative teams can also acknowledge their plea.
The ministry in its statement issued today called on the agitating political parties to carry out their programs in a peaceful and lawful manner. “If the law and order is broken in the name of protests, the government will not remain silent,” the statement warned.
Any incident of arson and destruction and use of fowl language against the monarchy, the ministry said, will not be overlooked.
Speaking at the press briefing, DIG Ashok Shrestha, head of Valley Police Office informed that altogether 52 agitators were arrested during the demonstrations of student organizations and all of them have been released.
He added that the 56 vehicles belonging to government offices were destroyed during the protests.
