Kathmandu, June 28: Minister for Health Dr. Rambaran Yadav has said that HMG was committed to take the health services to the rural areas through various health institutions by pursuing awareness raising, treatment and preventive measures.

Responding to oral questions posed by MPs during question hour at the meeting of the House of Representatives today, Minister Dr. Yadav said that the government was making effort to make the health services accessible at the grassroots level through awareness raising programmes and by covering health education in syllabus.

It has been the policy of HMG to enhance the means and resources of the district hospitals to extend health services in an effective manner and set up primary health centres where there was no hospital but there was no programme to construct the building of health centre at constituency No. 1 Ilaka No. 3 of Dailekh district, he added.

Minister Dr. Yadav said that due to lack of necessary means and resources, separate maternity hospitals could not be set up in every district and maternity services had been provided through district hospitals and primary health centres by setting aside beds.

Stating that the people of the rural areas were not attracted towards nursing homes, he said that as there was dense population in the urban areas, there was delay in the services provided by the limited health institutions and therefore people were attracted towards receiving medical treatment through nursing homes but HMG was committed to provide health services to the people through maximum utilisation of the means and resources.

Minister Dr. Yadav informed that technical personnel were imparted training on providing treatment to the people suffering from snakebite and provision of necessary drugs made at various VDCs of Sindhuli district.

Ganga Prasad Nepal, Nara Bahadur Hamal, Ratna Prasad Sharma Neupane, Sushil Nepal and Pashupati Chaulagain of the CPN-UML and Hari Narayan Chuadhari of the Nepali Congress had posed questions to Minister Dr. Yadav.
