KATHMANDU: France Wednesday agreed to give Nepal an additional 4,000 metric tonnes of wheat to strengthen the kingdom’s food security in addition to the 8,000 metric tonnes of wheat it already has provided in 2001, a Finance Ministry announcement said.

Twenty-five percent of the proceeds from the wheat sale will be used to cover internal transport cost. The remaining 75  percent of the sale proceeds will finance mutually agreed projects designed to strengthen food security.
