Fourteen historic idols of Hindu deities were recovered Tuesday from a heap of garbage at Bhimsensthan in ward no: 20 of Kathmandu, the Nepal Samacharpatra reported.
Neeraj Pode, a municipal worker spotted the idols while he was clearing up the garbage.
One of the idols is of Goddess Sarswoti, the Hindu Goddess of learning. The idol appears to be very old. It is one feet tall and weighs five Kgs. The other idols are small and look equally old.
The local people had thronged the area to worship the idols before the police arrived at the scene and took them away for investigation. According to the police, the idols will be sent to the Department of Archaeology for investigation.
