The Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce (FNCCI) in a circular has asked the organised industrial ventures to implement the agreement reached with the trade unions few months ago.
The FNCCI in its circular directed the management of business houses and industries to compulsorily provide appointment letters to workers before putting them into labour and ensure that they get paid no less than the minimum pay scale. The FNCCI also urged the industrial ventures to make sure that they provide no less than the minimum pay scale if they have to appoint workers on contract basis.
Likewise, the FNCCI also asked the industrial ventures to guarantee the payment to workers in the contract letters itself, follow the labour laws and implement all kinds of agreements between their respective managements and the workers.
Meanwhile, the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has demanded the government to provide security escorts to vehicles carrying petroleum products, food supplies and other goods of daily use.
A NCC delegation of led by chairman Rajesh Kaji Shrestha met Vice-chairman of the Council of Ministers, Dr Tulsi Giri, and demanded better security to suppliers.
Dr Giri pledged necessary security arrangements to suppliers and urged the businessmen to help government control Maoist extortion. “They (Maoists) are extorting tens of millions. Businessmen should stop paying them money and help government curb extortion,” he said, adding, “The government is ready to provide full security to business ventures.”
