Five killed in Makawanpur clash

Three Maoists and two security personnel were killed and some injured during a clash between the security forces and Maoists at Dandakharka Village Development Committee of Makawanpur district, reports said.

According to Nepal Samacharpatra Daily Maoists claimed that they had captured catchy amount of arms from the security forces from the incident site.

The dead Maoists have been identified as Assistant Platoon Commander Tshiring and Ramesh and Section Commander Hunkar, while the two security personnel killed in the incident are yet to be identified.

The incident occurred after the Maoists hurled socket bombs to the patrolling security personnel.

Maoists claimed that they were able to capture one SLR one thousand rounds bullets, six magazines, six INSAS magazine, four grenade, two cells of two inch mortar after the incident.

When contacted by Nepalnews, the Directorate of the Public Relations of the RNA confirmed the clash, but said they are yet to receive detailed information on the incident.

This is the second clash between Maoists and Security forces after Maoists’ declare unilateral ceasefire for three-month on September 3 with immediate effect.

Earlier the clash erupted on September 24 in Bhadrapur area of Palpa district in which six Maoists and one civilian were killed. However, Civil Society’s Ceasefire Monitoring Committee (CSCMC) has said that they were not killed in crossfire but killed in unilateral action of the RNA.
